Not One Woman Left Behind
Not One Woman Left Behind This is the time for millennials to shine. People in your graduating class (for instance, mine is 2010) are going into great things; law school, nurse practitioners, teachers, public figures, I mean the list goes on. But specifically, women are taking over the world. We are seeing more and more female domination in the work force, and that's what our future needs. I mean, it's been said; when women are involved, stuff gets done. I believe that to ring true. Not to mention we have a woman running for president. That's major history happening in our lifetime!! Women are rising above society standards and ultimately changing the status quo. What inspired me to write this article, was my recent career opportunity. I'm an actress, model and makeup artist, aka a freelancer in Chicago trying to make it. The entertainment industry is extremely hard to break into and make a name for yourself in, and I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to throw in the towel. I've recently landed a reoccurring small non - speaking role on an upcoming tv show, and I've witnessed something I have never seen in the 10 years I've been acting and modeling. The two people operating the heavy, huge film cameras, were not cameramen. They were cameraWOMEN. And it was SO COOL. These women expressed a presence of professionalism, confidence, and talent that commanded the room. They were so good at their job and so "in charge" it was hard not to stare at them. Not to mention the people assisting them were men! It was the coolest experience to witness. Each time I'm on the show I watch them carefully and learn something new from them each time. Seeing women take on the roles of what men have been expected to do or have been doing is pretty awesome to see. Nothing against men at all, but it's about time that women are recognized for their talents and their hard work. I mean, we're the ones who bring in the boys who grow up to be men of the world.
